Bear Arms student level firearm training courses offer hands-on, in-person training for the beginner to advanced student.   Our  unique teaching methodology and variety of offerings enhances the learning experience so that students get more out of their education. Focus is on safe firearm handling, storage, maintenance, and shooting techniques for accuracy.  Educated gun owners make our communities safer for everyone!





Nevada USCCA Reciprocity

Concealed carry is legal for residents with a Nevada Firearm permit and for non-residents with a license/permit from a state Nevada honors. To apply for a Concealed Firearm Permit, a person must be 21 (18 for military), complete an approved course in firearm safety and demonstrate competence (qualify) with any handgun. Both residents and non-residents can obtain permits. Some areas are off-limits, such as school premises, including parking lots, and inside public airports. In terms of reciprocity, Nevada recognizes permits from states that meet specific criteria and maintains the list on its website.

Nevada CCW Class $125.00
NV CCW is an in-person course for students who are interested in carrying a concealed pistol for personal protection while in public..  This objective-basic course explores important aspects CCW including firearm safety, selecting a pistol for self defense, personal protection ammunition selection, basic concealed carry concepts, shooting from concealment, tactical reloading, situational awareness, defensive mindset, holstering, and basic personal defense shooting techniques.  Continued opportunities for skill development is discussed.  If students brings a pistol 50 rounds of factory ammunition 30 is needed (guns and ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix  holster, 2 extra magazines, and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and shooting drills, students will meet NV CCW standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 8 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.

Personal Protection in the Home

NRA Personal Protection in the Home (PPITH) is an in-person intermediate level firearm class for students who are interested in safely protecting their family, home, and surroundings. This objective-based class takes students beyond basic pistol safety concepts to include when you can use your firearm for home defense. "safe room" principles and emergency planning, discouraging thieves, preventing unauthorized use of home firearm, controlling confrontations, awareness mindset, use of cover & concealment, proper interaction with the police after an incident, and basic personal protection shooting techniques & skill development,  Students will need a pistol, 150 rounds of factory ammunition (guns and ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and shooting drills, students will meet NRA Personal Protection in the Home national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 8 hours including live fire training.

NRA Personal Protection

 Outside the Home (PPOTH)

NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOTH) is an in-person intermediate level course for students who are interested in protecting themselves and their family while carrying a firearm in public. This objective-based course explores important concealed carry concepts including how to develop a defensive mindset, cover & concealment principles, holstering options for maximum efficiency, concealed carry laws, how to travel with your firearm, when you can shoot for protection of self and others, proper interaction with the police after an incident, aftermath preparation, basic tactical reloading & defensive shooting drills.  Required prerequisites must be completed prior to taking this course.  Students will need a pistol, 250 rounds of factory ammunition (guns and ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix  holster, snap caps, 2 extra magazines, and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including knowledge exam and shooting drills, students will meet NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 14 hours including live fire training.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (ILT)

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (ILT) is an in-person beginner level firearm safety course - not a marksmanship or concealed carry  class.  We recommend this course for those who are new to pistols, have limited experience, or want a refresher on basic pistol safety concepts. This objective-based class explores the important facets of firearm ownership including safe gun handling, ammunition, maintenance, storage, and basic shooting techniques.  Continued opportunities for skill development will be discussed.  Students will need a pistol (.22 caliber or greater), 100 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude.  Upon successfully passing this course, including basic knowledge exam and shooting lesson, students will meet NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting national standards and will earn an official certificate of completion.  Approximately 8 hours including live fire training.  A welcome letter will be emailed within 48 hours of registration.
